Turkish security forces have detained 23 refugees, including Afghan citizens, in Adana, as reported by Khaama Press citing Turkish media. The detained migrants hail from Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and Pakistan. They were detained due to a lack of legal residency and have been transferred to the immigration office in Adana, Turkey, after entering the nation illegally, according to reports.
In addition, Turkish Interior Minister disclosed that sixteen individuals were arrested in Mugla and Adana on suspicion of human trafficking. This development comes amid reports that 1,096 illegal refugees, including Afghan citizens, were held in Adana during the previous month, according to Turkish media sources.
This surge in detention coincides with a recent trend of Afghan refugees facing expulsion from countries like Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan.
