Former Delhi Civil Services Officer Arrested for Fabricating Complaint
Delhi Police apprehended A V Prem Nath, a former DANICS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Island Civil Services) officer, in connection with orchestrating a false complaint against IAS officer YVVJ Rajasekhar. Nath’s arrest followed his production before a district court in Delhi on Wednesday, where he was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
FIR and Allegations of False Complaint
The case originated with an FIR filed on June 16, 2023, based on a complaint by Nakul Kashyap. In the complaint, Kashyap accused A V Prem Nath, an officer in GNCT, Delhi, of inducing him to file a false complaint against Rajasekhar, who holds the position of Secretary Vigilance GNCTD. The complaint was made under the provisions of the SC/ST Act. Nath purportedly went further, creating a fake email ID in Kashyap’s name and circulating a fabricated complaint against Rajasekhar to various GNCTD officials.
Legal Proceedings and Evasion Attempts
Following the initial investigation in the central district, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch on November 3, 2023. Despite Nath’s efforts to quash the FIR, the Delhi High Court rejected his plea on January 22 this year. Subsequently, he evaded joining the investigation, leading to the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against him on February 22.
Arrest and Investigation
To locate Nath, law enforcement authorities initiated technical surveillance and conducted raids at multiple locations. He was eventually traced while traveling on the Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express to Tirupathi. With the assistance of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), Nath was detained at Tirupathi railway station. The police team transported him back to Delhi, where he was produced before the Duty Magistrate at Tis Hazari Court on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody.
