UNICEF, the UN’s children’s fund, has issued a stark warning that more children in Gaza are at risk of dying from dehydration and malnutrition without immediate intervention.

Adele Khodr, UNICEF’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), expressed deep concern in a statement, stating that the feared child deaths are now a reality and are likely to increase rapidly unless the conflict ends, and obstacles to humanitarian relief are swiftly resolved.

Khodr emphasized the sense of helplessness and despair among parents and doctors who are aware that lifesaving aid is nearby but remains out of reach due to ongoing challenges.

At least 15 children have already died in the past few days at Gaza City’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, with the health ministry in the enclave expressing fears for the lives of six more children still there.

UNICEF called for urgent action to prevent further tragedies and save the lives of thousands of vulnerable infants and children in Gaza.
