Empowering OBCs in JK: Lt Governor’s Commitment
In a significant development, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a meeting with a delegation of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) at Raj Bhawan Srinagar today, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of this community.
The OBC members conveyed their deep appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the groundbreaking reservations in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Jammu and Kashmir. This move is hailed as a historic moment, marking the first time justice has been delivered to OBCs in the region since India’s Independence.
Towards Inclusive Governance: Establishing a Backward Welfare Department
Lt Governor Sinha shared plans to establish a Backward Welfare Department in line with other states in the country, emphasizing the transformative change underway in Jammu Kashmir. He assured the implementation of the Act passed by Parliament, emphasizing that rules are being framed and will be published soon to ensure its effective execution.
Accelerated Development and Social Upliftment: PM Modi’s Vision
Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the accelerated development, improved infrastructure, and enhanced facilities that have propelled the local economy. This progress has also contributed to establishing peace and harmony in Jammu Kashmir, marking a new beginning for the previously marginalized sections of society.

Advocate Shabir Ahmed acknowledged the significant impact, stating that Prime Minister Modi has mitigated their decades-old suffering and provided justice to the community.
The gathering, attended by over 150 representatives from various walks of life within the OBC community, reflects a collective appreciation for the transformative initiatives and commitment to inclusive governance in Jammu Kashmir.
