Explosive Materials, Drones, and Lathe Machine Seized in Connection with Maoist Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of raids and searches in Telangana and Chhattisgarh related to a case involving the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). These actions were carried out in connection with an August 2023 case concerning the recovery of explosive materials, drones, and a lathe machine that were believed to be intended for use against security forces.

Explosive Materials Seized in Cherla Mandal

The NIA initiated this case after explosive materials, drones, and a lathe machine were confiscated from three individuals in Cherla mandal of Kothagudem in June. Local law enforcement, in collaboration with other security agencies, apprehended the three suspects. These materials were allegedly meant for manufacturing countrymade arms, with the intent to deploy them against security forces operating in India’s Naxal-affected regions. Given the significant inter-state security implications of the case, it was subsequently transferred to the NIA.

    Raids Across Telangana and Chhattisgarh

In the course of its ongoing investigation into the Cherla drone case, the NIA conducted searches at eight locations across Telangana and Chhattisgarh. These searches included five places in Warangal, two in Bhadradri Kothagudam in Telangana, and one location in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. The raids resulted in the seizure of numerous digital devices and incriminating documents.

    Unraveling Support for CPI (Maoist)

The NIA is presently engaged in a detailed examination of the seized digital devices and documents to uncover the extent of the accused individuals’ involvement in providing logistical support to the CPI (Maoist), a left-wing extremist organization. The CPI (Maoist) has been involved in various unlawful activities with the goal of overthrowing the Indian government through what they term a ‘people’s war.’

    Modern Tools and Technology

Recent developments indicate that the CPI (Maoist) has increasingly adopted modern tools and technology for carrying out its violent terrorist activities in various states. The accused in this case are suspected of providing raw materials to the banned organization, furthering its anti-India agenda.
