EAM Jaishankar Holds Talks with British Shadow Foreign Secretary and Business Trade Secretary
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in discussions with British Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds in the national capital. The meeting covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two nations and addressed key regional and global developments.
“Detailed discussions with British Shadow Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy and Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade @jreynoldsMP on strengthening ties and addressing global challenges. Constructive exchange of views on key issues,” tweeted Jaishankar.
During EAM Jaishankar’s visit to the United Kingdom in November, discussions with high-profile leaders, including PM Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary David Cameron, focused on bilateral cooperation, the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, and global issues such as the Indo-Pacific, West Asia, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The ongoing engagement aims to consolidate historical ties and foster new avenues for cooperation, aligning with the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Roadmap 2030. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the visit’s significance in enhancing collaboration across diverse sectors.
Earlier in the day, EAM Jaishankar bid farewell to Argentinian Ambassador to India, Hugo Javier Gobbi, acknowledging his tireless efforts in strengthening bilateral relations over the past three years. On Monday, he met Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad, discussing the expanding partnership between the two nations.
