Indian Navy Foils Piracy Attempt off East Coast of Somalia
INS Sharda Rescues Iranian-flagged Fishing Vessel from Pirate Attack
The Indian Navy successfully thwarted a piracy attempt on the Iranian-flagged fishing vessel FV Omaril along the East coast of Somalia.
The pirates had boarded the vessel, taking the 11 Iranian and eight Pakistani crew members hostage. Indian warship INS Sharda swiftly responded to the situation, intercepting FV Omaril and coercing the pirates for the safe release of the crew and the vessel.
The rescue operation highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to anti-piracy efforts and maritime security in the region.
