Budgam Police Crack Theft Case, Recovering Valuables and Apprehending Suspect
Budgam police successfully resolved a theft case by apprehending an individual and reclaiming stolen property worth a significant amount in the process.
According to a statement from a police spokesperson, the incident unfolded on January 12, 2024, when Magam Market shopkeepers reported a burglary that occurred overnight between January 11th and 12th. The complainants detailed the theft of goods valued at lakhs and the disappearance of a Tata Sumo vehicle with registration number JK04-9558.
Promptly responding to the complaint, Police Station Magam registered a case (FIR No. 03/2024) under the relevant legal provisions and initiated an investigation.
As the investigation progressed, several suspects were detained, and leads were pursued, ultimately leading to the arrest of a key suspect identified as Himayat Hussain Mir, son of Mohd Hussain Mir and resident of Yagipora Magam. The police spokesperson mentioned, “Upon scrutinizing CCTV footage, it was observed that the vehicle had been driven towards the Pattan-Sopore axis.” Subsequent efforts by law enforcement teams resulted in locating the vehicle near Hygam Sopore. The recovery operation not only yielded the stolen vehicle but also goods worth lakhs.
The ongoing investigation indicates that more arrests and recoveries are anticipated as the authorities delve deeper into the case. The successful resolution demonstrates the effectiveness of the police’s swift response and diligent investigative efforts in bringing the perpetrator to justice and recovering the stolen property.
