Notorious Gangster Vinod Upadhyaya Dies in Encounter with STF
Vinod Upadhyaya, a notorious gangster from Uttar Pradesh, met his demise on Friday after an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) in Sultanpur. The gangster, carrying a reward of one lakh rupees on his head, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Son of Ramkumar Upadhyay and a resident of Mayabazar police station in Maharajganj Ayodhya, Vinod Upadhyaya held a prominent position in the criminal world. He was listed among the top 61 mafia figures in Uttar Pradesh, with multiple cases of kidnapping and murder registered against him.
The fatal encounter occurred in the Dehat Kotwali area of Sultanpur, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Deepak Kumar Singh from the STF Headquarters. Vinod Upadhyaya sustained critical injuries during the exchange of fire.
Previously, the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Gorakhpur Zone had announced a reward of one lakh rupees for information leading to Vinod Kumar Upadhyaya’s capture.
The confrontation transpired around 3:30 am on Thursday night in the Kotwali police station area, resulting in Vinod Upadhyaya being seriously wounded. He was rushed to Sultanpur Medical College for treatment but eventually passed away during medical care.
Vinod Upadhyaya was notorious for his involvement in 35 cases of kidnapping, extortion, and murder, recorded in various police stations across Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Basti.
