IAF Chief Inspects Nagpur Facilities, Emphasizes Indigenous Development

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the Indian Air Force Chief, visited the Maintenance Command headquarters and the Economic Explosives Limited (EEL) facilities in Nagpur on Friday. Welcomed by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, AOC-in-C of the Maintenance Command, he explored the EEL premises accompanied by Satyanarayan Nuwal, Founder and Chairman of Solar Group of Industries.

During his visit, Nuwal briefed Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari on the company’s cutting-edge products under development. The IAF Chief toured various integrated plants and production units, including the Chaff facility, Rocket Assembly Bay, and observed the mixing and casting of Pinaka rockets.

In a conversation, Nuwal apprised the Air Chief Marshal about ongoing indigenous projects within the industry, spanning military explosives, rocket integration, weaponized drones like hexacopters, anti-drone missiles, and various armaments for the armed forces. They discussed two specific projects concerning the development of 125 kg bombs, chaffs, and flares tailored for the Indian Air Force.

Chaudhari commended the firm’s efforts and highlighted the significance of indigenous development in fostering self-reliance in ammunition and defense systems, aligning with the ‘Atma Nirbharta Abhiyan’ (Self-Reliance Campaign). He emphasized the substantial advantages that the indigenous Universal Bomb, along with chaffs and flares, would offer to bolster India’s self-sufficiency in the field of defense.
