ED Conducts Raids in Patiala in Gold Smuggling Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated search operations at seven locations in Patiala, Punjab, focusing on premises associated with Lucky Satija, Surinder Kumar, Manjodh Singh Cheema, and others involved in a case related to the smuggling of foreign-origin gold into India.
According to an official statement, the search operations, conducted on December 12, resulted in the recovery and seizure of various incriminating documents and digital devices. The agency is actively pursuing leads to uncover evidence related to the gold smuggling case.
This recent action in Patiala follows prior searches conducted by the ED in November across 18 locations situated in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. During those operations, the authorities recovered and seized various incriminating documents, digital devices, as well as unaccounted cash and jewelry amounting to Rs 1.60 Crore (comprising Rs 95 lakhs in cash and jewelry valued at Rs 65 lakhs).
