Police Crackdown on Drug Peddling in Baramulla and Kulgam
The police have made significant strides in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the regions of Baramulla and Kulgam, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal drugs.
Baramulla Operation: Seizure of Charas Powder
In Baramulla, a checkpoint operation led by the local police team at Ghat Palhallan resulted in the interception of Ab Ahad Dar, a resident of the same area. Dar was found in possession of 1.5 kilograms of charas powder. Following his arrest, he has been placed in custody at the local Police Station.
Kulgam Cordon and Search Operation
In a separate operation in Kulgam, a cordon and search effort was conducted by the police under the supervision of DySP PC Hatipora Shri Aarif Hussain-JKPS and led by the SHO of Police Station Behibagh. This operation targeted the residence of Feroz Ahmad Khan in Munnad, leading to the discovery and confiscation of 106 kilograms of Poppy Straw, a digital weighing machine, and a grinder with three jars. The accused has been detained at the Police Station.
Legal Proceedings and Investigations
In both cases, legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the law. Investigations are currently underway to further unravel the networks and extent of these drug trafficking operations.
These actions underscore the police’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug peddling and substance abuse in the region, aiming to safeguard communities and deter illegal activities.
