On Tuesday, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district disclosed that three individuals were apprehended for assaulting police officers at a checkpoint along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The incident, which occurred at the Goond checkpoint in the Nagri area on Monday, gained widespread attention after a video circulated on social media.

The altercation unfolded when three individuals on motorcycles were halted at the checkpoint and requested to present vehicle documents. Rather than complying, one of the individuals informed the police that he would summon someone to bring the necessary documents. However, instead of complying with the request, he called approximately 10 individuals from the Bamiyal area, all of whom were reportedly inebriated.

A physical confrontation ensued between the intoxicated group and the checkpoint officers, including the incharge. The accused individuals not only physically assaulted but also verbally abused the officers, leading to the intervention of additional police personnel.

Law enforcement managed to subdue and apprehend the three assailants. A subsequent medical examination confirmed that all three were under the influence of alcohol. In response to the incident, authorities have registered a case, and the motorcycle belonging to the accused individuals has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
