Nothing has released the Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 2 update for its Phone 2 users, following the introduction of Open Beta 1 in October. This new Beta update, based on Android 14, offers several advanced features and improvements, although users are cautioned about potential data and performance issues typical of Beta versions.

Upgraded Features in the Latest Beta Update

The Open Beta 2 brings an array of upgraded functionalities, including:

1. Updated Glyph Interface: Enhancements to the Glyph Interface include a new Glyph Timer with time presets accessible from the lock screen, Glyph Progress integration for Google Calendar, and a new Glyph animation for NFC usage.
2. Enhanced User Interface and Gestures: This version comes with updated status bar icons and claims to improve the three-finger swipe gesture. It also includes general bug fixes and minor UI enhancements.
3. New Widgets and Functionalities: The update introduces lock screen widgets, a new pedometer widget with custom animation progress and step tracking, a screentime widget, and a new media widget for easier navigation of music or podcasts from various media players.

Installation Process for Beta Users

For users interested in trying out the Open Beta 2, the process involves downloading the Nothing OS Beta tool APK from the community post. After installing the Beta installer app, users can navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version, check for the new version, and follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The company also provides an option for users to roll back to the previous stable version, Nothing OS 2.0.4, if needed.

Anticipation for Nothing OS 3

In addition to the Beta release, Nothing has teased the upcoming Nothing OS 3 in a Community update video. Expected to be based on Android 14, this new OS promises significant improvements over the current version and is anticipated to launch in early 2024, although an official timeline has not been confirmed.

The ongoing updates and developments reflect Nothing’s commitment to enhancing user experience and staying abreast of technological advancements.
