ED Nearing Asset Attachment in Lal Singh’s PMLA Case
The Enforcement Directorate is in the final stages of completing the necessary legal formalities for the attachment of assets belonging to former Minister and Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP) leader, Lal Singh. This action is being taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with a land dispute case registered against him. The dispute revolves around RB Educational Trust Kathua, which is headed by his wife, former MLA Kanta Andotra.
Crucial Developments Await in the Lal Singh Case
The Enforcement Directorate is currently awaiting responses from the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Kathua regarding the disputed land. Once these responses are received, the process for the attachment of the property will be initiated. However, the assets that will be attached are limited to those that are established as proceeds of an illegal act. The case is currently under careful examination by legal experts, and attachment orders will only be issued after thorough scrutiny.

Anticipatory Bail Hearing Looms Over Lal Singh
The upcoming day holds significant importance for both the Enforcement Directorate and Choudhary Lal Singh. The anticipatory bail granted to him by the court is listed for arguments, and the Enforcement Directorate is likely to plea for its cancellation, justifying that Lal Singh’s arrest is necessary in connection with the case.
Protests Emerge as Lal Singh Faces ED Interrogation
Meanwhile, Lal Singh once again appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in relation to the case involving the Educational Trust run by his wife, Kanta Andotra. Supporters of Singh, led by his wife, gathered outside the agency’s office to protest the ED’s summons, claiming that he is being unjustly harassed at the behest of the BJP. Singh, who is the chairman of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party, underwent questioning for the second time in three days.
Last week, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches in Jammu and its neighboring areas as part of a money laundering investigation against RB Educational Trust and a former government official connected to alleged irregularities in land purchases for trust establishment. The investigation is rooted in a charge sheet filed by the CBI in October 2021, which alleged criminal collusion in land issuance, granting undue pecuniary advantage to the trust.
In conclusion, the Enforcement Directorate is closing in on the attachment of assets in the Lal Singh case. This development comes in the wake of a complex and ongoing investigation into a money laundering case, with significant legal and political implications.
