Sporting Kansas City Fans Most Foul-Mouthed in MLS, CF Montréal Supporters Rank Both Most Negative and Most Polite
NEW YORK, November 3, 2026 (VoM News): Sporting Kansas City supporters have been ranked as the most foul-mouthed fanbase in Major League Soccer (MLS), while CF Montréal fans have emerged as the most negative in online discussions, according to an analysis of more than 533,000 comments posted on Reddit communities linked to all 30 MLS clubs.
The study, conducted by Action Network, examined 533,066 comments collected over the previous 12 months, assessing the use of swear words and the overall emotional tone of discussions. The analysis identified 60,812 comments containing profanity across the 30 club communities.
Sporting Kansas City topped the foul-language rankings, with 14.28 per cent of its comments containing swear words. Real Salt Lake followed with 13.77 per cent, while Orlando City SC ranked third at 13.44 per cent. San Diego FC and FC Cincinnati completed the top five with 12.96 and 12.57 per cent, respectively.
In the negative sentiment category, CF Montréal led with 56.56 per cent of comments carrying a negative tone. San Diego FC ranked second at 55.40 per cent, followed by Inter Miami CF at 54.97 per cent. Sporting Kansas City and FC Cincinnati occupied fourth and fifth positions, with 54.13 and 52.66 per cent, respectively.
Nashville SC recorded the highest share of positive comments, with 28.07 per cent of its discussions classified as positive. D.C. United came second with 25.27 per cent, followed by Portland Timbers at 24.37 per cent. Colorado Rapids and Chicago Fire FC completed the top five with 23.60 and 23.50 per cent.
Interestingly, CF Montréal also topped the most polite fanbase rankings, despite leading the negative sentiment category. Only 5.23 per cent of comments in its Reddit community contained swear words. Houston Dynamo FC ranked second with 8.81 per cent, while Chicago Fire FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC shared third place at 9.54 per cent. FC Dallas stood fifth with 9.67 per cent.
The findings highlight a distinction between negative sentiment and the use of profanity: CF Montréal supporters posted the highest proportion of negative comments but the lowest share of comments containing swear words.
Action Network said its sentiment analysis tool classified comments into positive, negative and neutral categories. Each club had at least 1,000 comments included in the study, with the final analysis completed in November 2026.
The rankings are based exclusively on discussions within club-related Reddit communities and should not be treated as a measure of the behaviour or opinions of every supporter. They provide a snapshot of online fan conversations during the 2026 MLS season.
