UK to Deploy RAF Typhoon Fighter Jets to Defend Saudi Arabia Against Houthi Attacks

LONDON, October 20, 2026 [VoM News]: Britain will deploy Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets to Saudi Arabia to help defend the kingdom against increasing aerial attacks by Yemen’s Houthi forces, the UK government announced on Tuesday.

The British Ministry of Defence said the deployment forms part of additional defensive military support being provided to Riyadh.

The RAF aircraft will conduct defensive counter-air missions aimed at protecting Saudi cities and critical infrastructure from aerial attacks, the ministry said, stressing that the jets will not carry out offensive strikes against the Houthis.

Britain will also deploy a military transport aircraft to assist with the movement of defence equipment inside Saudi Arabia. UK military advisers will provide support to Saudi staff officers.

Defence Minister Wes Streeting condemned the continuing Houthi attacks, highlighting repeated strikes targeting Riyadh’s international airport.

According to the report, the airport has been targeted 20 times since the beginning of October, with a recent attack killing 13 people and injuring more than 300.

The latest British deployment comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen following the collapse of a years-long truce in September.

Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s internationally recognised government and the United States accuse Iran of supporting the Houthis. Tehran denies the allegation.
