US Senator Bernie Sanders Condemns Israel’s ‘Collective Punishment’ in Gaza, Calls for End to US Military Aid

US Senator Bernie Sanders Condemns Israel’s ‘Collective Punishment’ in Gaza, Calls for End to US Military Aid

WASHINGTON, October 16, 2026 [VoM News]: US Senator Bernie Sanders has strongly criticised Israel over restrictions on aid entering Gaza, accusing the Israeli government of imposing “collective punishment” on the Palestinian population and calling for an end to US military assistance to Israel.

In a post on X, Sanders said the restrictions on humanitarian supplies would worsen hunger among children and other civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The senator accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of cutting off essential supplies, including food and shelter, for around two million people in Gaza.

Sanders described the Israeli government’s actions as “illegal and immoral” and argued that US taxpayer money should not be used to support policies he characterised as atrocities.

The senator also renewed his demand for Washington to stop providing military aid to Israel.

His remarks came amid renewed concerns over humanitarian conditions in Gaza following restrictions on the entry of commercial goods and other supplies.

Israel has defended restrictions on goods entering Gaza on security grounds and has accused Hamas of exploiting commercial imports and collecting taxes. Hamas has denied the allegations.
