Pakistan: Karachi, Balochistan See Fresh Reports of Enforced Disappearances
Islamabad, 10 August [VoM News]: Reports have emerged that a number of people, two of whom are reportedly 14-year-old students, have been targeted and forcibly disappeared in individual incidents in Karachi and the Pakistani province of Balochistan. The Balochistan Post has revealed the information.
The report stated that three of the most recent three cases were reported from Tikri in Karachi’s Mauripur area.
Sources claimed 28 year-old labourer Sabir was reportedly arrested by Pakistan Rangers in Basti Kalwari, Sukha Thal – his residence, at approximately 8:30 p.m. On 6 August. His present location is not known.

In another case, the Pakistan Rangers claimed to have arrested 30-year-old Abdul Aziz from his home in Karachi at approximately 2 a.m. The next day.
A third resident, 28-year-old shopkeeper Aamir, was reportedly taken into custody by officials of the Pakistan Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) at approximately 8 p.m. On August 5.
According to their families, no official information has been given about the three men’s whereabouts following their detention.
The other report claimed that two students aged 14 years-who were allegedly picked up by personnel of the Coastal Trade Department (CTD) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) from on Sariab Road in Quetta around 5 a.m. On July 24-are still missing and their families believe that they are being held in captivity.
In a different instance, relatives of Mansoor Anwar, resident of Kaur-e-Pusht, Buleda, Balochistan, claimed that Pakistani security authorities abducted him from his home after he was taken away at 3 a.m. On 4 August.
His family informed us that his brother Mansoor had been previously abducted in November 2023 and was released after almost two months in January 2024.
In the meantime, Baloch activists and human rights bodies have condemned the murder of Baloch civilian Inayatullah Jattak in Khuzdar district.
The Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) claimed that Inayatullah was killed by pro-Pakistani armed groups a few hours after his daughter, Asma Jattak, publicly appealed for protection and cautioned that her family had been threatened with death.
According to a video statement posted on social media, Asma Jattak claimed that her father and brothers had been extorted and threatened with death by a local armed group led by Zahoor Jamalzai.
Pakistani authorities had not responded publicly to the allegations at time of reporting. The claims made by the families, activists and The Balochistan Post could not be verified independently.
