58 Pakistani Soldiers Killed, Over 30 Wounded in Retaliatory Attack by Afghan Forces: Zabeehullah Mujahid
At least 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and over 30 others were wounded after Afghanistan launched a strong retaliatory strike near the Durand Line in Behrampur district, according to Taliban spokesperson Zabeehullah Mujahid.
Afghanistan has accused Pakistan of sheltering ISIS militants on its soil, posing a serious threat to several countries worldwide. Zabeehullah stated that Pakistan has turned a blind eye to the presence of ISIS within its territory and urged Islamabad to hand over the hiding ISIS members to the Islamic Emirate.
Zabeehullah added that Afghanistan is committed to defending its airspace and will not allow any attack to go unanswered. Pakistani forces reportedly suffered heavy losses during Afghanistan’s counteroffensive. Following mediation by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the airstrikes were eventually halted.
Afghan forces targeted Pakistani military positions in Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Nangarhar, and Kunar provinces along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.
Meanwhile, Pakistan faced a major diplomatic setback as Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi recently visited India and pledged to strengthen economic ties with New Delhi. In response, Pakistan summoned Afghanistan’s envoy over the joint statement, reflecting Islamabad’s frustration amid shifting geopolitical developments in the region.
