17th Edition of Indian-French Naval Staff Talks Enhance Bilateral Cooperation
The 17th edition of staff talks between the Indian Navy and the French Navy took place in New Delhi on February 6 and 7, chaired by Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna of the Indian Navy and Rear Admiral Jean-Marc Durandau of the French Navy. The discussions focused on operational strategies, training methodologies, and Subject Matter Expert exchanges, aiming to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Commitment to Collaboration and Interoperability
During the talks, both navies acknowledged the growing cooperation between them and committed to enhancing collaboration and interoperability in maritime security. The discussions encompassed ongoing naval activities and explored new avenues for cooperation, with a particular emphasis on operational, training, and Subject Matter Expert exchanges.
Demonstrated Synergy and Interoperability
The Indian and French navies have consistently demonstrated a high level of synergy and interoperability. This collaborative spirit was highlighted during the meeting between Rear Admiral Jean-Marc Durandau and Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, where they discussed the scope and potential of naval collaboration. The success of the recent Varuna-23 Phase-2 naval exercise, conducted in the Arabian Sea on September 7, 2023, was also recognized as a testament to the effective cooperation between the two navies.
Visit to Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR)
As part of the agenda, Rear Admiral Durandau visited the Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR), hosted by the Indian Navy. Established in 2018, the IFC-IOR aims to enhance maritime safety and security through collaborative efforts. This visit underscores the commitment of both navies to promoting maritime safety and security in the Indian Ocean region, reflecting a shared vision for regional stability.
