12-Year-Old Girl Raped in Delhi’s Kanjhawala Area
NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old girl was raped in North West Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on Tuesday.According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu a distressing call regarding the molestation of a minor girl was received at the Kanjhawala Police Station.
The local police officers on duty swiftly reached the JJ Colony Sawda, where the traumatised victim reported that the alleged perpetrator had lured her under the false pretense of performing a Tantra ritual to aid in the recovery of her ailing father, who is battling a chronic illness.
The accused then took her to a graveyard and raped her. Based on the victim’s statement, a case has been registered at the Kanjhawala Police Station under section 65(2) (rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The young survivor was promptly taken to SGM Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination.The alleged rapist, identified as Mohd Sharif, aged 52 years, has been apprehended by the police.
Further investigation into this case is currently underway.
