On May 8th, 2024, the District Red Cross Society in Doda orchestrated a vibrant celebration to mark World Red Cross Day. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, who also presides over the District Red Cross Society, the event showcased a mega rally themed “Keep Humanity Alive.” The rally, inaugurated by Singh and district officials, traversed through key locations in Doda, echoing slogans like “Red Cross Zindabad” and “Rakt Daan Maha Daan,” symbolizing the spirit of humanitarianism.
Students from various schools actively participated, carrying banners and donation boxes to collect contributions for humanitarian causes. The festivities culminated at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, featuring the hoisting of the Red Cross flag and engaging activities led by chief guest ADC Doda Sudershan Kumar and other officials. A range of competitions and awareness programs, including debates, symposiums, and painting competitions, fostered a deeper understanding of humanity’s significance among students.
In Bhaderwah, a rally-cum-awareness program guided by ADC Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar witnessed enthusiastic participation from NGOs, NCC cadets, and students. The program underscored the importance of road safety and Red Cross Day, with officers delivering messages to promote awareness. Helmets were distributed to bikers, and blood donation camps at GMC Doda and SDH Bhaderwah aimed to encourage blood donation and highlight the Red Cross’s humanitarian role during crises. ACR Doda Sunil Bhutyal emphasized the community’s vital role in supporting the Red Cross mission, echoing the sentiments of ADC Doda Sudershan Kumar, who urged widespread dissemination of the day’s message and active participation in humanitarian endeavors.
