Women in Jharkhand Outpace Men in Pursuit of Skill Development
In a recent survey of Jharkhand, women have emerged as frontrunners in the quest for skill development. The study, conducted by the Market Intelligence firm InsightCrunch, reveals a striking trend: 70% of women express keen interest in skill development programs, compared to 63% of men.
“Our on-call survey across 24 districts of Jharkhand, covering 3,400+ respondents, is a testament to InsightCrunch’s lean & efficient operational execution. About the findings, the high interest in skill development we uncovered not only validates our approach but also provides valuable insights for future initiatives in the region” said Deekshith Vemuganti, Chief Operating Officer at InsightCrunch.
When it comes to specific areas of interest, the preferences are clear:
- Digital, computer, and IT skills top the list, with 38% of respondents showing interest. Notably, 55% of women are keen on these skills, significantly outpacing men at 35%.
- Business management ranks second, appealing to 32% of respondents. Here, men lead with 33% interest, compared to 21% of women.
- Technical and engineering skills attract 19% of respondents, with a notable gender divide – 20% of men versus 9% of women.
- English language and communication skills round out the list, with 11% overall interest. Women show a stronger inclination here, at 16% compared to 11% of men.
These findings suggest a shift in the modern workforce landscape. Women’s higher engagement in skill development reflects their proactive approach to overcoming professional challenges and seizing new opportunities.
“This trend could significantly impact Jharkhand’s economic landscape. By up-skilling a large portion of the female workforce, we could potentially boost the state’s productivity and economic output.” adds Sudhanshu Gupta, VP of product at InsightCrunch
As Jharkhand moves forward, this data could shape future policies and programs. The clear interest in digital skills, particularly among women, may guide the focus of upcoming skill development initiatives.
