Vodafone Idea Launches Cloud Play: Mobile Cloud Gaming Service

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced Cloud Play, a cloud gaming service for mobile platforms, in collaboration with Paris-based cloud gaming firm CareGame. Cloud Play will offer premium mobile games like Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, Shadow Fight, and others, accessible via a subscription-based model starting at Rs. 100 per month. Available on both iOS and Android devices, users can access Cloud Play through the Vi app or website.

The service promises triple-A mobile games across various genres, including action, adventure, arcade, racing, sports, and strategy. The launch catalogue includes popular titles like Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, Shadow Fight, and classic games such as Cut the Rope, Subway Surfers, and Jetpack Joyride. Additional games will be added in the future.

Initially, Cloud Play will offer a free trial period under a “Try n Buy” model, after which users will need to subscribe to continue accessing the games. Similar to other cloud gaming platforms, Cloud Play allows users to stream games directly without downloading them, requiring only a fast and stable internet connection.

Philippe Wang, Co-founder and CEO of CareGame, expressed excitement about the launch, stating that Cloud Play will enable gamers in India to enjoy AAA mobile gaming without needing to invest in high-end devices, thanks to CareGame technology and Vi networks. The service can be accessed via both Vi Web and app platforms.

While Vi’s Cloud Play targets mobile gamers, Reliance Jio offers its cloud gaming service, JioGamesCloud, which includes PC games and is currently available in beta.
