    US National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy stated that conflicting information exists regarding the nationality of the crew on board the container ship involved in the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, Maryland. The Singapore-flagged vessel collided with a pillar of the bridge, leading to its collapse.

    Verification of Crew Details

    Homendy emphasized the need to verify the numbers and nationality of the crew on board the vessel. She mentioned ongoing efforts to confirm the crew’s status and highlighted the importance of accurate information in the investigation.

    Homendy revealed that personnel from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore will be arriving in the US to assist in the investigation. She underscored the NTSB’s relationships with counterparts in other countries and the exchange of information to ensure comprehensive investigations.

    Updates on Rescue Operation

    US President Joe Biden provided updates on the rescue operation, stating that eight people were initially unaccounted for, with two rescued and six still missing. He assured that efforts were ongoing to locate the remaining individuals. Biden also emphasized that there is currently no indication of intentional wrongdoing, attributing the incident to a tragic accident.
