US Arab Group Welcomes Measures to Shield Palestinians from Deportation
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), a prominent civil rights group, has expressed support for President Joe Biden’s decision to protect Palestinians from deportation. This move is set to safeguard around 7,000 eligible Palestinians, allowing them to remain in the United States for the next 18 months.
Addressing Crisis Impact: ADC Executive Director’s Statement
ADC Executive Director Abed Ayoub emphasized the critical nature of this decision in light of the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Ayoub stated, “The ongoing genocide in Gaza has already led to 30,000 deaths, and a humanitarian crisis that is impacting millions of Palestinians.” The ADC views this protective measure as a crucial step to ensure that Palestinians in the U.S. are not subjected to deportation back into harm’s way.
Humanitarian Parole Advocacy: Beyond Deportation Protection
While welcoming the decision, the ADC goes further, urging the administration to take additional steps. Specifically, they call for reuniting Palestinian families through the humanitarian parole process. This appeal reflects the organization’s commitment to addressing broader humanitarian concerns and promoting family reunification amid the challenging circumstances faced by Palestinians.
