All Administrative Secretaries and Heads of the Departments (HoDs) have been tasked with submitting an Action Taken Report (ATR) by or before October 22, 2023. The Finance Department of the Union Territory emphasizes that non-compliance will be treated with utmost seriousness by the government.

Budget Focus and Major Announcements for 2022-23

The Budget for Financial Year 2022-23 prioritized several crucial areas, including good governance, grassroots democracy, accelerated development, and inclusive growth. It also aimed to facilitate investment and industrial growth while focusing on infrastructure development to enhance the quality of life and employment opportunities. Youth initiatives, women empowerment, and broader social inclusion were integral aspects of this budget.

Notable announcements included doubling farmers’ income through high-yield crop cultivation and modern technology adoption. Major civil and electro-mechanical works of vital hydroelectric projects were scheduled for completion. It also ranks high in categories like Agriculture Income, Ease of Living, Ease of Doing Business, Transparency, Sustainable Development Goals, and One Nation One Ration Card.

Key budget announcements for 2023-24 encompass the operationalization of the Cancer Institute in Jammu, strengthening trauma care facilities, and the declaration of all villages as Open Defecation Free Plus under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G). Other initiatives include the construction of 1500 new Panchayat Ghars, improved power supply hours, reduced transformer damage rates, and the provision of Functional Household Tap Connections. The budget also focuses on the rejuvenation of identified water bodies in Urban Local Bodies and the full implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
