UN Chief Calls for Independent Investigation into Gaza Aid Massacre
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an independent investigation into the killing of over 100 Palestinians awaiting humanitarian aid in Gaza City, as reported by Reuters.
Speaking in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines before a regional summit, Guterres expressed shock at the recent loss of life in Israel’s conflict with Gaza.
In response to questions about the UN Security Council’s failure to reach a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza, he highlighted geopolitical divides rendering veto power as an “effective instrument of paralysis” for the Security Council.
