The excitement surrounding cricket in India continues with the imminent start of the Ranji Trophy season on October 11, following the conclusion of the Duleep Trophy, which was won by India A.
Jammu and Kashmir has announced its 15-member squad, notably featuring fast bowler Umran Malik, who is eager to demonstrate his skills after overcoming injuries.
Umran has been sidelined for a significant period due to various health issues. After a challenging IPL season, he suffered an injury and was later selected for the Duleep Trophy. Unfortunately, he contracted dengue just before the tournament, preventing him from participating.
Now fit and ready to play, Umran aims to make a strong impression in the Ranji Trophy to catch the attention of national selectors for a potential return to Team India. His last appearance in the Ranji Trophy was in February, and he has taken 16 wickets across 12 first-class matches.
The Jammu and Kashmir team will be captained by Paras Dogra, with Shubham Khajuria serving as vice-captain. Rasikh Salam, who has been absent from first-class cricket for the last five years, also makes the squad after an impressive IPL 2024 season with the Delhi Capitals.
Abdul Samad rounds out a balanced lineup as Jammu and Kashmir looks to make a mark in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.
