Udhampur Police In Action: Woman Drug Smuggler Arrested From Anantnag Through Backward Link Analysis of NDPS Case

Police have arrested a woman allegedly involved in a narcotics smuggling network following a follow-up investigation into a drug trafficking case registered in Udhampur, officials said.

According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the arrest was made during a backward linkage investigation of FIR No. 95/2025 registered under sections 8/15/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Police Station Chenani.

Police identified the accused as Rohie Hassan, a resident of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. She was arrested during a targeted operation carried out by a police team from Chenani as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks in the region.

Officials said the case dates back to September 30, 2025, when police apprehended an alleged inter-state drug peddler, Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Kapurthala in Punjab, at a naka checking point in Chenani. During that operation, police recovered a quantity of poppy straw from his possession.

Subsequent investigation revealed further links in the narcotics supply chain, leading police to identify and arrest Hassan in Anantnag. The operation was carried out by a team led by PSI Umer Sayeed under the supervision of SHO Chenani Inspector Raghubir Singh Choudhary.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify additional forward and backward linkages in the drug network as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
