UAE and French Presidents Discuss Bilateral Ties and Global Developments
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and deepening their strategic partnership. They also reviewed the International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan recently held in Paris. The conference aimed to boost global and regional efforts towards a peaceful resolution in Sudan and addressed the worsening humanitarian conditions there.
Both leaders emphasized the need for diplomacy to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire, ensuring the safety of the Sudanese people and supporting their development goals.
The two presidents also touched on current regional and global issues, highlighting the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving crises that threaten global peace. During the Sudan conference, the UAE committed USD 100 million to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and neighboring countries, bringing its total relief aid contribution to USD 150 million, covering medical, food, and relief supplies. Additionally, the UAE launched a USD 20 million field hospital in Abeche, Chad, marking its second hospital to aid Sudanese refugees.
