Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Kulgam; 7.3 Kg of Poppy Straw Seized

In its ongoing effort to combat drug-related crime, the Kulgam Police have successfully apprehended two individuals involved in drug peddling.
During a routine patrol at village Nipora, a police team led by the In-charge of Police Post Mirbazar stopped a vehicle with registration number JK03B-5292, occupied by two suspects.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 7.3 kilograms of a contraband substance resembling poppy straw, concealed in a nylon bag. T
he arrested individuals have been identified as Shafat Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Damjan, and Jora Singh from Dholan, Ludhiana, Punjab. They have been taken into custody at the local police station, and the vehicle used in the drug trafficking has been seized.
An FIR No. 202/2024 has been registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant legal sections, and an investigation into the case is currently underway.
The police are appealing to the community for any information related to drug peddling in their areas to assist in curbing this issue.
Authorities assure the public that individuals involved in drug trafficking will be dealt with according to the law.
