Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Three Western Railways Employees
In a tragic incident, three employees of Western Railways lost their lives when a local train ran over them while they were addressing signaling issues between Vasai Road and Naigaon stations.
The victims, identified as Vasu Mitra (Chief Signalling Inspector), Somnath Uttam Lambutre (Electrical Signalling Maintainer), and Sachin Wankhade (Helper), were part of the Signalling Department of the Mumbai division.
The accident occurred when they were attending to signalling point failures. An inquiry has been ordered, and immediate relief of Rs 55,000 each has been provided to the families.
Further ex gratia payments will be disbursed within 15 days.
