Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident, directing officials to expedite rescue operations. The pond, with 7 to 8-feet deep water, posed challenges for rescuers due to sand deposition. Villagers involved in the search describe the eerie sensation of bodies trapped in muddy water, likening them to large stones.

The tragic incident unfolded as villagers, mainly from Nagla Kasa, planned an unplanned visit to the river Ganga on the auspicious occasion of Magh Poornima. The unplanned visit, triggered by the availability of a tractor trolley, united the villagers for a journey that ended in sorrow.

The victims, including women and children, had aspirations for rituals like ‘mundan’ (shaving of the head) on the banks of the river Yamuna. The accident has not only claimed lives but has left a community grieving over the untimely loss of loved ones.
