The 4th National Workshop on Technology Innovation in Cyber-Physical Systems (TIPS 4.0) recently convened under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) as part of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS). Held on May 13-14, 2024, at IIT Bombay’s Technology Innovation Hub for IoT & IoE (TIH-IoT), the event gathered 48 deeptech startups, with 44 securing promising investment commitments.

Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, and Shri Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of DST, were among the distinguished speakers at the inaugural session, emphasizing the significance of transitioning research into commercialization. Padmaja Ruparel, Co-founder of the Indian Angel Network, hailed the NM-ICPS program for its role in fostering startups and driving India towards a $5 trillion economy by 2047.

The event not only provided a platform for startups to pitch their innovations but also showcased groundbreaking technology, such as a motion sensor-based diya developed by TIH-IoT, symbolizing entrepreneurial innovation. Through initiatives like TIPS 4.0 and the NM-ICPS program, India aims to create an ecosystem conducive to entrepreneurship, innovation, and the commercialization of cyber-physical system technologies.
