JAMMU, Aug 18: A tragic car accident in Reasi district claimed the lives of two teachers and a minor girl on Sunday afternoon, according to officials.
The unfortunate incident occurred when an Alto car with the registration number JK20B 1024 veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Chamelu Morh in the Chassana area of Reasi.
The accident resulted in the immediate death of two passengers, while two others sustained critical injuries.
The deceased were identified as Ghulam Din and Mohd Amin, both of whom were teachers, and a minor girl named Sumera Ghulam, all residents of the Hamusan area in Chassana tehsil.
Emergency responders quickly evacuated the injured to a nearby hospital. Tragically, despite medical efforts, the minor girl, Sumera Ghulam, succumbed to her injuries, raising the death toll to three.
The other injured passenger, also a minor, was identified as Sajad Ghulam. He is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and his condition remains critical.
Local authorities have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and are collecting evidence to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
This heartbreaking accident has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly in the Hamusan area, where the victims resided.
The loss of two educators and a young child has left the town in mourning, highlighting the dangers of the treacherous roads in the region.
