Three American Soldiers Lose Lives in Drone Attack in Syria
Three U.S. service members lost their lives, and numerous others sustained injuries in an unmanned aerial drone attack on U.S. forces stationed in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border, as stated by President Joe Biden.
He attributes the attack to Iran-backed groups and highlights that at least 25 individuals were injured.
Biden mentions, “While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”s will be added soon.
Three American service members, who made the ultimate sacrifice, are remembered as patriots by President Joe Biden.
There is no immediate comment from Iran. These deaths mark the first fatalities of US troops in the Middle East since Israel’s war on Gaza began on October 7.
The attack occurred amid heightened tensions in the region due to ongoing conflicts, including Israel’s response to Hamas’s attack and concerns about regional stability.
Reporting from Tehran, Al Jazeera’s Resul Serdar notes that there have been over 100 attacks on US bases in the Middle East since Israel initiated its assault on Gaza.
Iran maintains that these attacks are not orchestrated by them but rather carried out by their regional allies who act independently.
Iran’s approach aims to avoid direct military confrontation with Israel, understanding the potential repercussions of such conflict involving the US.
Consequently, Iran channels its response through allies like Yemen’s Houthis, Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and various groups in Syria and Iraq.
