The Travel Agency Lights Up the Theater District
Cannabis Culture Takes Center Stage on Broadway
New York, NY – February 6, 2025 – At the crossroads of cultural innovation and cannabis, The Travel Agency, New York City’s leading cannabis destination, is reimagining the pre-show experience for theater enthusiasts. With the opening of its newest store on Fifth Avenue just steps away from the theater district, The Travel Agency became the first cannabis brand to advertise in Playbill, inviting theatergoers to “Experience a Matinee for Your Mind.”
Nestled near Radio City Music Hall, The Travel Agency has quickly become a trusted destination for performers, theater professionals, and audiences alike. Committed to integrating cannabis seamlessly into cultural experiences, the brand is uniquely positioned to connect the world of cannabis with Broadway.
‘Cannabis allows you to let go and go on a journey,’ says Amirose Eisenbach, producer of the revival of Reefer Madness. ‘Theater audiences, especially older generations, are often intimidated by cannabis. But when they experience knowledgeable, approachable spaces like The Travel Agency, it bridges the gap… they realize cannabis can coexist with a sophisticated art form.'”
The Travel Agency’s connection to Broadway runs deep. Srđa, the brand’s Senior Manager of Brand Engagement, began their career in theater, working on productions like Mothers and Sons and Deaf West’s Spring Awakening. Reflecting on the evolution of cannabis in cultural spaces, Srđa recalls, “I remember organizing underground 4/20 concerts with some of today’s top Broadway performers. We used to be scared to promote them, so it’s amazing to see cannabis now recognized as a legitimate part of the culture.” Through initiatives like its Playbill partnership and sponsorship of new musicals like An Axemas Story at 54 Below, The Travel Agency is creating opportunities for cannabis to complement Broadway’s ongoing tradition of reinvention.
The brand’s influence extends beyond audiences, resonating with Broadway performers as well. “Cannabis is a healing plant for me,” shares Bex Robinson of & Juliet. “After a long day, THC and CBD help me recover and recharge.” Star of Vanities Off-Broadway and The Travel Agency Brand Ambassador Litty (Jade Jones) agreed, noting, “Cannabis isn’t just recreational—it’s plant medicine. I use CBD for stress, CBG for pain, and CBN for sleep after performances.”
To further enhance the theatergoing experience, The Travel Agency recently launched its Theater Portal, a curated online guide featuring cannabis products designed specifically for theater enthusiasts. Whether it’s the Ayrloom Beverage Enhancer to brighten a matinee or Hudson Cannabis RSO for a relaxing evening performance, the Theater Portal helps theatergoers personalize their experience with intentional cannabis pairings.
As cannabis gains wider acceptance in mainstream culture, The Travel Agency is leading the way in creating meaningful connections between cannabis and art. By bringing cannabis into the world of Broadway, the brand is not just enhancing the audience experience but helping to write the next act in New York’s cultural story.
