In a shocking incident that unfolded around midnight on Tuesday, a temple chariot dedicated to Lord Ram was set ablaze in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, resulting in heightened tensions within the community.

The chariot, crafted by Erriswamy Reddy’s family from the Kanekallu region, represented a significant investment of approximately Rs 20 lakh for its construction.

Locals were alerted to the fire when they discovered the chariot engulfed in flames. Despite efforts to extinguish the blaze, the chariot was left completely charred. Following the incident, local police initiated an investigation, employing a dog squad to gather clues.

Through their investigative efforts, police identified Ishwar Reddy, the son of Erriswamy Reddy, as the primary suspect in the arson case. Anantapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagdish confirmed that Ishwar was arrested on Wednesday.
