Temple Chariot Set on Fire in Andhra Pradesh, One Arrested

In a shocking incident that unfolded around midnight on Tuesday, a temple chariot dedicated to Lord Ram was set ablaze in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, resulting in heightened tensions within the community.
The chariot, crafted by Erriswamy Reddy’s family from the Kanekallu region, represented a significant investment of approximately Rs 20 lakh for its construction.
Locals were alerted to the fire when they discovered the chariot engulfed in flames. Despite efforts to extinguish the blaze, the chariot was left completely charred. Following the incident, local police initiated an investigation, employing a dog squad to gather clues.
Through their investigative efforts, police identified Ishwar Reddy, the son of Erriswamy Reddy, as the primary suspect in the arson case. Anantapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagdish confirmed that Ishwar was arrested on Wednesday.
Reports suggest that he may have affiliations with the YSR Congress Party, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Authorities are actively probing the motive behind the arson, but they have emphasized that there are no signs of communal tensions involved in this incident.
The police are working to ensure community safety and calm as they continue their investigation into this disturbing act of vandalism.
