TDP Releases Second List of Candidates
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has unveiled its second list of 34 candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. This announcement comes after the party’s initial list release.
Prioritizing Public Opinion
In his message, Naidu emphasized the significance of public opinion in candidate selection. He urged the people to support and elect all TDP candidates.
Seat-sharing Pact among Parties
Ahead of the elections, the TDP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP) have agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement in Andhra Pradesh. The BJP, TDP, and JSP will contest from specific constituencies in both Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
The alliance was formalized after a meeting in Delhi and further discussions in Amaravati. However, Naidu’s alliance with the BJP has drawn criticism, particularly regarding the issue of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.
Criticism and Expectations
Opposition parties have questioned Naidu’s decision to align with the BJP, citing past betrayals and unfulfilled promises. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are anticipated to take place in April-May.
