New Business Horizon
Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is embarking on a new journey as an industrialist, planning to establish a steel factory in Salboni, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. This venture comes as part of his broader vision to contribute to the state’s industrial development. During a recent 12-day trip to Spain and Dubai, he expressed his gratitude to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the opportunity and revealed that the factory’s construction is expected to be completed within five to six months.
A Sporting Pioneer Diversifies
Sourav Ganguly, often recognized for his iconic cricket career, revealed his lesser-known side as an entrepreneur during his address at the ‘Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS)’ in Madrid. He shared his excitement about initiating the third steel plant in Bengal, following the establishment of a small steel plant in 2007. Ganguly is confident about the swift progress, aiming to launch the state-of-the-art facility within a year.
A Testament to Efficiency
Ganguly underscored the efficiency and supportiveness of the state government, emphasizing that the steel plant’s construction timeline is based on practical experience rather than mere promises. He recalled his family’s legacy, with a business initiated by his grandfather half a century ago, and praised the state government’s continuous support during those early days.
West Bengal: A Hub for Business
Highlighting West Bengal’s commitment to economic growth, Ganguly mentioned the state’s long-standing tradition of inviting global investments. He noted that the government’s proactive approach is geared toward nurturing the state’s development and empowering its youth. Ganguly’s foray into the steel industry aligns with this vision, marking a significant step forward in West Bengal’s industrial landscape.
