Soldier Martyred in Kishtwar Encounter During Anti-Terror Operation, Army Pays Tribute
Kishtwar, J&K: An Indian Army soldier was martyred in an ongoing encounter with militants in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports, Nb Sub Rakesh Kumar of the elite 2 Para (Special Forces) lost his life while participating in a joint counter-terrorism operation in the Bhart Ridge area. The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army paid tribute to his sacrifice with a statement on social media platform X, saying, “GOC #WhiteknightCorps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of #Braveheart, Nb Sub Rakesh Kumar of 2 Para (SF). We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”
The operation, launched by security forces based on specific intelligence, targeted the group responsible for abducting and killing two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in the Kishtwar region two days earlier.

As the joint forces moved toward the suspected location, they made contact with the militants, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Three more Soldiers got injured whose condition is stated as stable.
The Army and security forces remain vigilant and committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region, while honoring the memory and sacrifice of those who serve on the frontlines.
