Soldier killed by father-in-law in Jammu domestic dispute
11 May 2024 : A soldier tragically died on Saturday after being shot by his father-in-law during a domestic dispute in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.
Police identified the soldier as Amit Singh and the accused as Doulat Ram, a member of the Village Defence Guard (VDG). Ram reportedly traveled to visit his daughter, who is married to Singh, and became enraged upon learning of a marital disagreement between the couple.
According to police reports, Ram, armed with a .303 rifle, shot Singh in the chest. Singh’s wife was also injured during the altercation.Police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of gunfire and transported both Singh and his wife to the hospital.
While Singh received initial treatment, his injuries were critical, and he died on the way to a specialized hospital in Jammu.
