    Streamlining Patient Registration

After experiencing delays due to technical issues, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, is finally set to introduce its innovative Scan & Share queue management system. The system aims to streamline patient registration at this vital tertiary healthcare facility in Jammu and Kashmir, making the process more convenient and hassle-free for patients.

    Technical Hurdles Overcome

Delays in implementing the Scan & Share system were initially caused by technical issues, especially with security audits, affecting not only SKIMS, Bemina but also SKIMS, Soura. Fortunately, these technical problems have been successfully resolved, paving the way for the introduction of the system.

The Role of ABDM in Facilitating Healthcare

Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), authorities have assisted the hospital in acquiring the Health Management Information System (HMIS) software through the National Informatics Centre (NIC). This HMIS software is compliant with the ABDM ecosystem and has enabled the hospital to prepare for the Scan & Share facility’s implementation.

    Mapping Healthcare Professionals

Before launching the Scan & Share system, the hospital must map its healthcare professionals on the Health Provider Registry (HPR) portal of the ABDM. Officials have initiated this process to ensure a smooth transition. However, it is noted that the issue of healthcare professionals not being mapped is prevalent not only at SKIMS, Bemina but also at SKIMS, Soura, where only 10% of their overall healthcare professionals have been mapped.

the Additional Mission Director of ABDM in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Shafqat Khan, is dedicated to resolving the challenges at the outpatient department (OPD) level. The introduction of the Scan & Share facility aims to make the entry queue-less and reduce the long wait times at the hospital.

With the hospital recording an average of over 2000 daily registrations, the implementation of the Scan & Share system is expected to increase the overall OPD tokens generated across Kashmir, providing much-needed convenience for patients.

Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Bemina, Dr. Shafa Deva, confirmed that the facility will be launched in a few days, and they are currently completing the necessary prerequisites. She emphasized that there would be no further delay in launching the facility, ensuring that patients will soon benefit from a more efficient registration process.
