Shehbaz Sharif to Meet Chief Justice Amid Judicial Concerns
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is slated to meet Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faiz Isa today to address concerns raised by Islamabad High Court judges regarding alleged interference in judicial affairs. The meeting, scheduled for 2 pm, will include Law Minister Nazir Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan.
Supreme Court Deliberates on Judges’ Letter
The Supreme Court held a full-court meeting to discuss a letter from six Islamabad High Court judges detailing alleged interference by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in judicial functions. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and other top judges participated in the two-hour meeting following calls for a probe into the matter.
IHC Judges Urge Judicial Council Intervention
The Islamabad High Court judges called on the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to convene a judicial convention over ISI’s alleged interference in judicial matters. The letter highlighted concerns about the intimidation of judges and interference in court proceedings, prompting further scrutiny into the issue.
