Senior Congress leader Shadi Lal Pandita tragically lost his life in a road accident near Sidhra on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred while Pandita was returning to the Jagti migrant township after attending a significant function in Jammu, where Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were present.
According to officials, Pandita was fatally crushed by a truck, leading to his untimely death. Shadi Lal Pandita, who served as the vice chairman of the Kashmiri Migrant Cell, was a dedicated and respected Congress leader.
He was well-known for his relentless advocacy for the rights and welfare of Kashmiri migrants. His commitment to the party began in his early days as a member of the Youth Congress, and he remained an influential figure within the organization throughout his life.
The shocking news of Pandita’s death has deeply affected the Congress party, with many senior leaders expressing their sorrow.
JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, who shared Pandita’s history with the party, highlighted his long-standing association with the Congress and his contributions to the party’s mission.
The Congress leadership, including national general secretary Gulam Ahmed Mir, AICC in-charge Bharat Sinh Solanki, J and K Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra, working presidents Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, former minister Yogesh Sawhney, PCC Migrant Cell chairman H L Pandita, and Kamal Fotedar, have all extended their heartfelt condolences to Pandita’s family, mourning the loss of a dedicated and compassionate leader.
