School Bus Collides with Van in Delhi, Injuring Seven Children and Driver
In a concerning incident, a school bus and an Eeco van carrying school children collided in southwest Delhi. This accident resulted in the injury of seven school children and the van’s driver. The incident took place near Kendriya Vidyalaya at Basantara Line. The injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Minor Injuries and Hospital Treatment
Fortunately, the injuries sustained were minor, and the children were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for minor bruises. The van’s driver is currently recuperating in the hospital. This outcome was reassuring considering the severity of the collision.
Details of the Vehicles and Age of the Children
The school bus involved in the accident was from St Thomas School in Dwarka, and it had collided with an Eeco van carrying children from Kendriya Vidyalaya Number 1. All the children involved in the accident were below the age of seven.
Possible Cause and Legal Action
The accident investigation suggested that both vehicles had a head-on collision. It is suspected that the school bus might have been moving on the wrong side, leading to the collision. Consequently, a case under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered, and the investigation is currently underway.
Driver’s Arrest and Parental Concerns
The 25-year-old school bus driver, Naveen Kumar, initially fled from the accident scene but was later apprehended by the authorities. After the incident, parents of the students opted to take their children to other hospitals for a medical examination.
