Sanjay Singh Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha MP

Sanjay Singh, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was administered the oath of office for his second term as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Despite being lodged in Tihar jail due to his arrest in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy, Singh was brought under security cover to fulfill his parliamentary duties.

Oath-taking Ceremony

The ceremony took place in Dhankhar’s office in Parliament House and was attended by Singh’s family members, including his mother, father, wife, son, and daughter. Also present were Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Secretary General P C Mody, and AAP MPs Sanjiv Arora, Sandeep Pathak, and N D Gupta.

Security Arrangements

Singh’s presence at the oath-taking ceremony was facilitated under adequate security measures as ordered by a local court. The Jail Superintendent ensured Singh’s safe transportation to Parliament and back to the jail premises after the ceremony.

Legal Situation

Sanjay Singh’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy has resulted in his current judicial custody. Despite these legal challenges, Singh has fulfilled his parliamentary duties by taking the oath for his second term in the Rajya Sabha.
