Samsung Rollable Smartphone with 12.4-inch Display Could Launch Soon
Key Highlights:
- Samsung is reportedly developing a smartphone with a rollable display.
- The phone could expand to a 12.4-inch screen, larger than most tablets.
- It may feature an under-display camera for a seamless viewing experience.
Samsung is reportedly working on a smartphone with a rollable display, expected to launch in the second half of 2025. According to The Elec, this innovative handset will feature a flexible screen that can expand to a 12.4-inch display, making it larger than most foldable devices currently on the market, including Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design with its 10.2-inch screen.
This new device would continue Samsung’s trend of pushing boundaries in smartphone design. It will come six years after the company introduced its first foldable phone and could be a game-changer with its massive, rollable screen. Moreover, the phone is rumored to have an under-display camera (UDC), eliminating the need for a camera cutout, ensuring an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Samsung has already showcased various foldable prototypes, including devices that fold twice or in a Z-shape. The company has also been granted patents for rollable and triple-folding smartphones. While Huawei recently launched the world’s first triple-folding phone, the Mate XT Ultimate Design, Samsung’s rollable phone could set a new benchmark with its larger screen and cutting-edge design.
The Elec reports that Samsung is expected to shift focus to this rollable technology, and more details are anticipated as the phone’s potential release date approaches. However, given its innovative features, such as the expansive screen and UDC technology, the new rollable phone could carry a premium price tag.
